Muslim Pilgrimage

Places Covered: Mumbai - Ahmedabad - Ajmer - Jaipur - Agra - Delhi


Day 01: Arrive/Mumbai by International flight.

Meet/Assist on arrival and transfer to hotel.

Day 02: Mumbai
After breakfast, you will be visit the Dargah of Haji Malang Daulah outside Borivali, a northern suburb of Bombay, perched on a hill top a mausoleum of Haji Malang Daulah, a roving “Sufi” of the South Indian Darvesh Orders. Inspire of its distance and height, people old and young, people of every caste and creed, people from every place in India, visit the mausoleum with their hopes and expectations to find God’s favour in this little sanctuary. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Mumbai visiting The Gateway of India-– The stone archway designed by Wittett in the 16th century Gujarati style, Hanging Garden, Marine Drive, Crawford Market, Mani Bhawan Museum where Gandhi Ji lived. Also visit Dhobi Ghat where entire Mumbai’s laundry is done.

Day 03: Mumbai/Ahmedabad by Shatabdi Exp. at 0625/1315hrs.
Today early morning you will be transfer to Mumbai train station to board Shatabdi Express to Ahmedabad. Arrive at Ahmedabad. Meet/Assist on arrival and transfer to hotel. Afternoon visit the Dargah of Hazarat Quab-e-Alam who, born in 801 A.H. was the grandson of the great Sufi, Makhdum Jahaniyan Sayyad Jalal Bukhari, who spent his life in Northern India. Besides his spiritual undertakings, he played a leading role in creating better relations between the warring kingdoms of Gujarat and Malwa. His mausoleum is about 10 kms from Ahmedabad and is visited by people from far and near. Later visit the mausoleum of Hazarat Shah” Alam son of Qutb-e-Alam of Ahmedabad and one of the very well known Sufis of Western India, situated a few kilometers outside Ahmedabad; a handsome monument with exquisite geometric patters interlaced all around with tracery work. On every Thursday and Friday there is a big crowd of visitors belonging to all communities who come to visit it. Also visit Jama Masjid built in 1423, its architecture is considered to be one of the most perfect among the mosque in Western India, Teen Darwaza, Triple Gate - way 37 ft or 12 meters high from the top of which the Sultans of Gujarat watched colorful processions winding their way from the Palace to the Jumma Masjid, Hutheesing Temple, a richly carved marble temple surrounded by fifty two smaller temples and Rani Rupmati’s mosque and Bhadra Fort.

Day 04: Ahmedabad/Ajmer by Train at 1000/2020hrs.
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Ahmedabad train station in time to board train to Ajmer. Meet/Assist on arrival and transfer to hotel.

After breakfast, you will be taken on a tour of Ajmer where you will visit the Dargarh of Khwaja Moinduddin Chisti. The Mausoleum of Khwaja Sahib of Khwaja Ajmeri - as he is dearly known to his devotees has become a place of pilgrimage for one and all. Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti, who was born in 537 A.H/ 1142 AD was the founder of the Chistiya Order of Sufism in India. He came to India and settled down in Ajmer even before the Slave Dynasty had established its political hegemony at Delhi. His piety and devotion go God so impressed the people that soon he had a number of followers around him. The humility and tolerance of the Sufis who came to India in the early days were their endearing traits, and these have made them immortal not only with the Muslims but with all the communities in India. His sayings were collected by Khwaja Qutubuddin Bakhtiyar Kaki Aweshi in ‘Dalilu’s - Arfin’. Also visit Anasagar, an artificial lake, AdhaiDin-Ka-Jhonpra, Akbar’s Palace and Taragarh or Garh Beetli. Afternoon driven to Jaipur and check-in at hotel.
Day 06: Jaipur
After breakfast, you will enjoy an elephant ride up to the Amber Fort and visit the Palace, Kali Temple and Jai Mahal. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Jaipur the capital of Rajasthan popularly known as the Pink City was founded by Maharaj Sawai Jai Singh II, in 1727 AD (The city was planned by the architect Vidhayadhar). Visit to Hawa Mahal or Palace of Winds, which is a remarkable five storied building. City Palace Museum - home of the erstwhile royal family. Right across the road from the City Palace is Jantar Mantar the largest observatory built by Sawai Jai Singh II and of course shopping as Jaipur is known as a shopper’s paradise famous for jewellery, handicraft, carpet, Blue pottery and textiles.

Day 07: Jaipur/Agra via Fatehpur Sikri
After breakfast, driven to Agra en-route visiting Fatehpur Sikri built by emperor Akbar in 1569 and later abandoned due to scarcity of water. Visit the Tomb of Sheikh Salim Chist in the courtyard of the mosque. A white marbled memorial with ornate awning speaks volumes of skilful and affectionate labours of the Sufi’s admires. The pillars of the sepulchered have a close resemblance to those of a South Indian temple, and the mausoleum looks a synthetic coalescence of the Indian spirit. Sheikh Salim Chist, the famous Sufi of Emperor Akbar’s time was the descendent of Baba Farid Ganj Shakar and was born in 897 A.H. His early life was spent in visiting places of pilgrimage in West Asia. He, however settled down in Sikri, then a small village settlement, some kilometers from Agra. Soon the stories of his piety spread around the Emperor Akbar became one of his devotees. It is said that the Emperor who had no male issue by then requested the Sheikh to pray for him. Akbar’s belief in the Sheikh’s piety was confirmed when a son was born to him and he named his new born also Salim who succeeded him and took the title of Jahangir after Akbar’s death. Also see the graceful building within the city, including Jama Masjid, Panch Mahal and other places. Continue your drive to Agra and check in at your hotel.

After breakfast, you will be taken to a half day sightseeing tour of Agra visiting The magnificent Mughal Capital visiting Taj Mahal built by Mughal Emperor Shahjehan in 1630 for his queen Mumtaz Mahal to on shrine her mortal remains, Taj has been described as a “Poem in Marble”, Agra fort – a visit to the fort in ‘Agra’ is must since so many of the events which lead to the construction of the Taj took Place here, Also visit the Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daula built by Emperor Noor Jehan in memory of her father. Afternoon driven to Delhi en-route visiting Sikandra - the tomb of emperor Akbar continue your drive to Delhi and check in at hotel.

Day 09: Delhi
After breakfast, you will be visit to the Dargarh of Hazarat Nizamuddin Auliya. Sheikh Nizamuddin was born in 631 A.H/1235 A.D. at Badaun. His teacher was Maulana Kamaluddin Zahid who was a man of independent character. Possibly from him and his spiritual master, Sheikh Nizamuddin inherited remarkable indifference to everything mundane. In 1267 AD Sheikh Farid nominated Nizamuddin his successor and he settled in Delhi. The Sheikh kept away from the kings and emperors. Also visit the Dargah of Hazarat Amir Khusro, who was born in 652 AH/1254 AD and who came from a distinguished Turkish family. But he was proud of being an Indian as of his Turkish origin. At the age of eight he became a disciple of Sheikh Nizamuddin Auliya and developed a great devotion for him. He was so imbued in the love of his master that he did not survive long after Nizamuddin Auliya’s death, and he was buried in Delhi not very far from his master’s feet. Khusro’s elegy on Nizamuddin Auliya is considered one of the best in Persian literature. Afternoon visit Humayun’s Tomb, Jama Masjid and Pearl Mosque at Red Fort.

Day 10: Depart/Delhi by International flight.
After breakfast, you will be free for last minute shopping till you transfer to International airport in time to connect your onward flight to your next destination.
