Makar Sankranti

Target Tours India Pvt Ltd.Makar Sankranti is an auspicious day for the Hindus all over India. The day is celebrated throughout India in varied cultural forms, with great commitment, zeal and joy. Hindus adopt diverse ways to celebrate the day of Makar Sankranti. Most of the followers, say millions prefer taking a holy dip in some of the famous rivers of the country. The places like Ganga Sagar and Prayag get flooded with the devotees who head there to perform bath and rituals.

Makar Sankranti is celebrated with great splendour in southern parts of India as Pongal, while the same takes the form of Lohri and Maghi in Punjab. Gujarati's also celebrate Makar Sankranti intensely, and look respectfully up to the sun. They also present their immense joy and respect by hosting multi-coloured and fine-looking kites all over the skyline. For the Gujratis, the day brings an ideal opportunity to reach upto their mighty God or generate intense proximity with the one who manages all, including their lives.

Makar Sankranti is the day for which Bhishma Pitamah (the Father figure of the Mahabharata) waited to leave his mortal coil while being on a death bed. Makar Sankranti also marks the day when the celebrated Sun-God of Hindus sets-off its control and enters into the Northern Hemisphere. Sun counts for the Hindus as the manifest God, who denotes divinity blessing, controls and manages time and also alters the proverbial Wheel of Time.

The famous Gayatri Mantra is chanted by millions of Hindus everyday which invokes the Sun God to bring intelligence and wisdom for one and all. Of all the cosmic bodies, Sun is revered the most and anything allied to it turns out to be extremely significant as spiritual, religious and cultural events.

Makar Sankranti is celebrated for being directly linked to the Sun, as the Sun sets-off its ascendancy and enters into the Northern Hemisphere on the same day. Thus the day signifies an event where all the Hindus pray for a god they respect and wish to be cared by him even. We expect from the god to bring more light into our lives and removes darkness for ever on the Makar Sankranti day.
