Target Tours India Pvt Ltd.The birthday of Lord Krishna is celebrated in the form of Janmashtami just eight days after the full moon of Shravan. Krishna Janmashtami has forever been a significant festival in the Hindu calendar from eternity. The occasion is celebrated with great affection and loyalty throughout India. Vrindhavan, Mathura and Dwaraka are few of the foremost places where the festival is celebrated with even higher intensity and vigour. These are the places where the Lord Krishna spent his life.

Janmashtami tends to be full of splendour in all these places, though the rest of India also shows the magnificence and charm of a grand event on the Janamashtami days. You observe the image of the infant Bala Krishna hanging all around. The devotees sing devotional songs and enjoy dancing while celebrating the birth of the God Krishna. The rituals associated with the festival tend the Krishna devotes to wait and pray till mid night to celebrate the occasion.

Some North Indian regions celebrate the Krishna Jayanthi for three constant days wherein the first two days pass in a colourful manner. A popular ceremony, 'Dahi Handi' is observed that offers the youth to break the pot filled with butter or milk. The same type of event is celebrated with zest in Mumbai and other cities of Maharashtra.

The Braja Mandala, especially Gokula and Mathura, attracts vast Krishna devotees for their intense religious fervour and enthusiasm on the Krishna Janamasti days. Guests hear the loud chanting mantras wafting in the air, making the ambience truly religious and festive at the same time.

Mathura and Vrindavan attract lakhs of Hindu devotees on this day and let them cherish the day amid celebrations and joyous ambience. The atmosphere turns out to be fairly religious with people doing all sorts of dancing, singing and sharing feelings towards the lord Krishna. Few even observe fast on this day to have the desired and good sons like the lord Krishna. Recitation of the Bhagvatam and Geet Govindam are taken up by most of the devotees of the lord Krishna.
